Unfortunately, the number of scams carried out through Pix has been increasing day by day. The situation has worried banking institutions and also the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), which has been developing measures to help the population against these scams and frauds, which seek to steal money from victims in different ways.
The deputy director of Febraban Services, Walter Tadeu Pinto de Faria, stated that measures are being taken to help the population against this type of situation involving Pix. He announced that the Fraud Prevention Seal will be launched. The measure will be a way to regulate banking institutions through minimum requirements.
A consultancy firm hired by the Federation will visit institutions annually to check whether they are fully complying with the rules. If the response is positive, they will receive the seal. Learn more about this new feature, which aims to help the Brazilian population.

New measures
The deputy director explained that this is a way of showing the public that banks care about the security of their customers and that they are willing to find ways to offer greater protection. In addition to the seal measure, another measure will be a partnership between Febraban and the National Telecommunications Agency, Anatel, and the Ministry of Justice, which plans to create a new application.
The “Secure Cell Phone” will be a tool that allows users to ask their carrier to lock their device in the event of theft. According to the institution, R$1.4 billion has already been invested in security mechanisms and digital fraud prevention in 2022 alone. However, even with this, the number of scams has increased by 1,651,000.
Seal operation
According to Faria, the goal is to conduct a consultancy that visits institutions annually to verify whether they are complying with all minimum security requirements. Those that are maintaining everything correctly will be able to receive the seal, which will represent that the transactions have a low risk. by blow.
Common scam
While Febraban's measures are not yet working, citizens need to remain vigilant so that don't fall for scams. A fairly recent scam that has been claiming many victims is the 0800 scam.
Criminals send victims an SMS warning them that a large purchase has been made in their name. If the person does not recognize the purchase, they ask them to contact a fake call center with a number that starts with 0800 so that the person can resolve the irregularity.
