Video messages
WhatsApp, from Meta, recently announced the launch of a video messaging feature. This feature allows the user to click the send button of audios, where the microphone icon will be replaced by a camera icon, allowing you to record videos of up to 60 seconds.
The video will then be sent in a circle format, unlike sending normal videos, a function that already exists in the app. This new feature is similar to an existing one on Telegram, which is a messaging app that competes with WhatsApp.
It will also be possible to record the video by swiping the camera icon upwards. The video will automatically play without sound in the app. In order for the user to access the audio from the video, they will need to click on the message.
This new WhatsApp feature has been available on Telegram since 2018, and aims to make sending this type of content easier, since the user will not need to go to the gallery to search for the video to send.
The feature is not yet available to all users, but this should happen in the coming weeks, as it is being released gradually.
How to send video messages
Sending messages in video format is very easy and requires just a few steps:
- With the WhatsApp conversation open, click on the microphone icon (for sending audio), then it will be replaced by a camera icon. To start recording, simply press and hold the icon;
- After a countdown, the recording will start. As with the audio sending feature, you can also slide your finger to the left to cancel sending, or even to the padlock icon, where the recording will be made without the user having to hold it;
- When you finish recording, just send the video in the conversation. You can also delete the video after sending it by clicking “Delete”, as you do with other types of messages in the app.

The new feature is available to users of version 2.23.16.14 of WhatsApp Beta for Android. This change comes with others, aiming to modernize the look and ensure a better experience for users.
