Understand the CapCut interface

The first step to use CapCut is to understand how the home screen works. When opening the application, the user has the option to create a “New Project”, which must be pressed to start editing the video. There, current projects, templates made by other users (and which can also be used), as well as some shortcuts to common functions are also displayed at the top.

The editing screen has a preview window, the highlighted part of which shows the video that is being edited. In this area, you can pinch to zoom, pan, rotate, and drag clips. There is also a timeline area below the preview window where changes to the video are reported. Using the “+” symbol at the end of the line, you can add more videos or photos to the clip.

The toolbar is located at the bottom of the screen and displays all the main features the app offers and can be added to clips. There is also a secondary toolbar, activated by pressing one of the icons, which displays additional functions for each feature.

Import videos into the app

To import videos into the app, tap “New Project” on the home screen. Next, choose the media you’ll be using. You can either tap the “Video” or “Photos” tab at the top. If you’d like, you can browse your media library via the “Albums” option.

How to cut video with CapCut

After importing the video, users can edit the material as desired. One of the main features used in CapCut is video trimming. To do this, tap on the video clip you want to start. Notice that a white frame will appear. Go to the white border and drag it to the point you want to trim. If you want, you can slide it to the opposite side. After trimming the video, the user can post it on the network they want or just save it to their memories.

How to add subtitles to videos in CapCut

To add subtitles to a video, you can drag the cursor to where the subtitles will be added and press “Text”. The application will provide the options “Automatic subtitles” or “Add text”. The difference between the two options is that in the first case the application recognizes the audio and converts it to text, which can cause errors. In the second mode, the subtitles are inserted manually. This can also help you insert slang or expressions that the artificial intelligence does not recognize. But, of course, it is up to each user to choose what best suits their intended use.
