However, to make life easier for these people, the app announced this Wednesday (18) that it will allow users to have two accounts on the same cell phone, connected at the same time, without needing two different smartphones. The feature will be very useful for those who have a professional and a personal account. However, it can only be used if the person has a second phone number and a cell phone that accepts more than one SIM card, the famous chip.

Two accounts on the same cell phone
Initially, the feature is only available to Android cell phones, over the next few weeks and months, according to the platform. There is still no date for it to be available on the iPhone. Those who have an Android phone will have access to the feature in the coming weeks, according to the company Meta, which owns from WhatsApp.
The feature has been in testing for some time in the beta version of the app. It reached testers with a redesigned interface for the app's settings. With the new feature, users will no longer need to use parallel or cloned apps, which was common for those who wanted to use two accounts on the same phone.
The tool will also offer different conversations and notifications for each account, so that there is a seamless switch between them. At the moment, only one additional account will be able to be part of the app. However, it is possible that the app will increase the limit in one of its future updates.
How to enable the feature
- Check if your device is compatible with two SIM cards. To register a second account, the user will need another SIM card with a second cell phone number;
- After that, just go to “Settings” in the app, in the main account and click on “Add account”;
- After that, you need to adjust the privacy and notification settings on each account.
New for iOS
In a version released this Tuesday, the beta version of the application for iOS now has the ability to search for channels in the Updates tab. The feature is available in version 23.21.1.72 and was released some time ago in the Android version.
The WhatsApp search bar on iOS will be at the top, allowing users to search for any channel, whether it’s one they’re already following or a new option to follow. The new feature is currently only available in beta, but it should be rolling out to more users soon.
The app is also testing a new message search option, as well as specific password-protected folders, which aims to make users' lives easier and further protect their data and privacy, which has been a priority for the app for some time.
