New WhatsApp feature lets you record audio for Status. Here's how to do it.
WhatsApp has been bringing a lot of useful new features to its users this year. The Messenger has created LuzIA, its own artificial intelligence, introduced broadcast channels, video messaging, and several other features recently.
One of the latest additions to WhatsApp is the ability to insert audio files into Stories. Updates that were previously only available for videos and photos now have another multimedia option for sharing moments with friends and family. But if you still don't know how to use audio in your Stories, keep reading and check out the step-by-step guide below to learn once and for all.
How to add audio to Stories
To share audio on Stories, your app must be updated to the latest version of WhatsApp. If you're not sure if your update is up to date, check the Play Store or Apple Store. Once you're sure your app is on the latest version, follow the tutorial below to use the new feature.
- First, go to the WhatsApp “Stories” page. It may be called “Updates” depending on your phone.
- Then, tap the pencil icon button in the bottom left corner of the screen. The app will open a writing page.
- Now, click on the audio button, also in the bottom left corner.
- Hold the button and start recording. The audio has a maximum duration of 30 seconds.
- Then, release the button and click send at the bottom of the screen. That's it!
- If you want to customize the color of your stories, just click on the Paint Palette icon at the top of the screen.
New feature
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing the ability for users to create AI-generated stickers, as announced by Meta last week. In the beta version of Messenger for iOS (23.20.1.70) available on TestFlight, this feature is only available to a small group.
A limited number of Android users will also be able to test the feature, according to the website. To access the sticker creation tool, simply click on the “Create” button in the corresponding section of the app. There, users can describe the sticker they want to create in a few words, and WhatsApp’s AI technology will take care of the rest.
This is a test feature, so of course there is no exact date for general availability. We expect this tool to remain “in the oven” for a few more weeks (or months) and undergo some changes.
WhatsApp Channels
WABetaInfo also reported on Monday (02) that WhatsApp is testing improvements to the functionality of its channel. According to the website, this new feature will allow copying links to channel updates within the application itself.
In fact, you can easily share the channel updates with others without having to be part of the channel itself, while preserving the original context of the message associated with the link. This feature is currently available to some users who have the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS/Android. Widespread implementation of this feature is expected “in the coming days.”
