Pinning messages in conversations

According to WABetaInfo, the function of pinning conversation messages to the top of the screen on WhatsApp is available to a limited group of testers in the beta version of the app for Android phones. The feature also offers the option to choose how long the message will remain pinned in the conversation, displaying three options: 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days. It is also possible to remove the pinned message at any time, if the user wishes.

The message pinning feature is being rolled out to individual chats, making it easier for users to remember important information. But that’s not the only feature that’s been added to WhatsApp recently. WABetaInfo also reported that the “search for the Updates tab” feature has been rolled out in WhatsApp beta version 2.23.21.7 for Android users.

Search feature for the Updates tab

In WhatsApp beta version 2.23.21.7 for Android, the search feature has been added for Channels and Status. The functionality can be found in the Updates tab and just click on the magnifying glass to search for the content you want.

Launch

Both the message pinning feature and the search feature for Channels and Status are still in the testing phase on WhatsApp. Therefore, there is still no forecast for when the features will be made available to the general public in the stable version of WhatsApp.

Channels

The resource of Channel was recently launched by WhatsApp and allows users to send messages to an unlimited number of people, keeping them informed about topics of interest. With this, users can follow the pages they want, whether celebrities, teams, platforms, and more, receiving news, links, and updates on the topic in question. Groups only allow administrators to send messages, which can be in the form of text, audio, images, and videos.

Channels are separate from other conversations on the app and can be accessed from the “Updates” tab, which also contains Statuses. Whoever the user chooses to follow is not visible to other users. It is also possible to see new, more active and popular channels, based on the number of followers.

Users can also react to messages sent using emojis. Other followers cannot see how the user reacted. The feature was launched in ten countries, but it should soon be available to all users on the platform.
