Highlights

  • Launch of the Safe Cellphone application on GOV.BR to protect mobile devices.
  • Easy blocking of the device, telephone line and banking applications after theft or robbery.
  • Registration and blocking by “trusted people” to reinforce device security.

Users can block not only their device, but also their phone line and banking apps in just a few clicks, in order to protect sensitive information and prevent damage resulting from such incidents.

Announcement

Rogério Mascarenhas, Secretary of Digital Government at the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), emphasized: “GOV.BR makes citizens’ lives easier. With a single login, Brazilians can use more than 4,200 digital services. And from now on, they will also be able to use this new tool to increase the security of their cell phones and personal data.”

Access to Secure Cellphone will be available both on the web and through apps for Android and iOS

Users register using the same gov.br account. Each registered user has the option of indicating other contacts who can block the cell phone in case of theft, robbery or loss.

However, the registration of “trusted people” is optional. When registering as emergency contacts, they are only allowed to report the crime on the Celular Seguro website or app. This then activates the blocking of the device and apps. The service only requires a Bronze level account. To check your account level and security, go to the gov.br/conta page.

Announcement

As highlighted by the MJSP, it is crucial to address this issue in a structured manner, considering the relevance of mobile devices in today's life. Ricardo Cappelli, executive secretary of the MJSP, stated: “Without paper money, the device is a great asset, because it contains personal, banking and credit card data. Your whole life is there.”

These services are aimed at different profiles, such as farmers, tourists, retirees, entrepreneurs and drivers.
