This Sunday (17), Gramadão da Vila A hosted the 2023 edition of the South American Cell Phone Throwing Tournament, which is organized by the Itaipu Physical Security Recreational and Sports Association, with the support of the binational, the Itaipu Technological Park and entities such as Lions Cataratas, Rotary Foz do Iguaçu Conexão and Rotary Santa Terezinha.
In addition to being just fun, the event aimed to properly dispose of electronic waste and also collect food for charitable organizations in Foz do Iguaçu and the surrounding area. This year, 217 participants participated, divided into categories. In total, 670 kilos of electronic waste were removed from circulation, including 307 cell phones.

Cell phone throwing championship
According to the event organizers, since the beginning of the tournament, more than 36 thousand kilos of waste have been collected and correctly disposed of. electronic waste, in addition to collecting approximately 77 tons of food for charitable organizations. The tournament is part of the calendar of the Tourism departments of the State of Paraná and Foz do Iguaçu.
This was the 13th edition of the event, which managed to bring together 217 participants and collect 670 kilos of electronic waste, including a total of 307 cell phones. To register for the activity, interested parties needed to donate 2 kg of food, which will be donated.
The event managed to collect nine tons of non-perishable food, which will be donated to charitable organizations in Foz, Santa Terezinha and Céu Azul. For the organizers of the event, in addition to being fun, it is very important to raise awareness about the correct disposal of electronic waste. For another organizer, once again the population helped make the event one of the most fun and charitable in Foz.
Result
You old cell phones were thrown and flew very far. In the adult male category, Jefferson Luis Streda, security guard, came in first place with a throw from 78.6 meters away. Second place went to Sérgio Candido de Souza, with 76.3 meters. Third place went to Frank Rodrigues de Souza, with 76.2 meters.
The women were not far behind. In the adult women's category, Karina Galhardes managed to throw the apparatus a distance of 43.1 meters. Maisa Angler came in second place with 42.6 meters and Leila Rosário came in third place with a distance of 39.3 meters.
In the male youth category, first place went to Cristofer Victor Deina with 60.6 meters, second place went to Felipe Babireschi with 53.3 meters and third place went to Nasser Samir Safadi, with a distance of 49 meters.
In the female youth category, the winner was Melissa Pasini, with 22.5 meters. Second place went to Ketlyn dos Santos, with 18.4 meters and third place went to Ingrid Yasmim Macedo, with a distance of 15 meters.
Children and young people also participated. In the boys' children's category, the winner was Pedro Mendes with 44.8 meters, second place went to Kauan Estevem with 34.9 meters and third place went to Beijamin Oliveira with 34.5 meters.
In the female children's category, the winner was Eloa Teles, with 22.6 meters. In second place was Sarah Oliveira with 21 meters and in third place was Ana Beatriz Siminikoski, with 20.3 meters.
