Learn NOW how to EDIT MESSAGES on WhatsApp

Learn how to edit a post on WhatsApp. The app is implementing a new message editing tool.

WhatsApp launched its long-awaited “Edit” feature a few months ago, but some users haven’t even heard of the new feature yet. But what exactly does it do? The new feature allows users to edit messages sent through the app.

Available for Android and iPhone (iOS), you can edit the content for up to 15 minutes after sending it. This allows you to make important changes to your message, such as correcting misspelled words or changing the context of an entire sentence. After editing, the messaging program displays a “Message edited” label right below the changed text. Even so, the feature can be a great help to users, especially at work, when they send a message that is wrong.

Feature is not yet for everyone

This option is gradually being rolled out to users, so it may not be available to your entire base yet. Read on to find out everything you need to know about WhatsApp’s “Edit” feature.

How to edit a message on WhatsApp?

Editing messages on WhatsApp is an easy task. To do this, just click and hold on the message you want to edit. On Android phones, you must expand the menu of features in the three dots that appear at the top and then click on “Edit”. In the menu that opens on your iPhone, just scroll down to the “Edit” option.

A text box will appear where you can edit the message you sent. Once your changes are complete, click the “OK” button. This feature allows you to edit the same message more than once within a certain period of time.

How long can I change my post?

According to WhatsApp, messages can only be edited up to 15 minutes after they are sent. This is a much shorter window of time compared to its message deletion feature, which allows users to delete a message up to 48 hours after it is sent.

Does WhatsApp send me a notification when a message is edited?

Yes, WhatsApp will notify you when the content has been changed. Modified posts will have a small “Message edited” notification next to the time. Similar to the “Message deleted” notice, the edited message label will remain with the modified text, but you won’t be able to see previous versions of the message.

I still don't have access, what do I do?

As mentioned, the feature is still new and is being rolled out to users gradually. If this option is not available in the app, try update WhatsApp manually from your phone's app store. If the feature doesn't appear after updating, wait for a future update.

How Flows works

Logged-in merchants can offer new shopping experiences on WhatsApp using a variety of blocks, including text boxes, calendars, seat selectors, and more.
