The app has finally released better quality photos. Here's how!
WhatsApp announced last Thursday (17) that it will now be possible to send photos in HD quality during chats. Until then, the application only allowed the sending of lighter versions of the files, which is why they were delivered to recipients in lower quality.
This has been a long-time request from users of the app, as many times, even though their photos were taken with great cameras, they lost all quality when sent via the messaging app. For customers, the news was very well received, but not everyone knows how to take advantage of this new feature. Therefore, if you want to know how to send photos in HD quality via WhatsApp, keep reading and see the steps.
How to send quality images through the app
To send a high-definition image via WhatsApp, simply select the file and select the HD button on the screen with the app's other editing features. If the icon is disabled, the photos will be sent in the “standard quality” specified in the app, i.e. lower.
According to WhatsApp, standard quality photos are usually between 1.5 MP and 4 MP (megapixels), and HD photos are between 9 MP and 16 MP. In a statement, the app revealed that HD images are still slightly compressed for fast transmission and reception.
WhatsApp explained to the press that the platform uses an image standard known as “Progressive JPEG” that allows for multiple quality levels in a single photo sent. “This means that the standard HD version of the photos you send can be downloaded even if the sender has a poor or limited connection,” the app said.
This new feature will be rolled out gradually and will be available to all users in the coming weeks. And users are in for another pleasant surprise, as the app also promises to launch HD videos soon.
Another resource
WhatsApp announced a while ago a another resource which allows users to silence calls from unknown numbers from within the app, but it is not yet widely known by users. The new feature has been available since June of this year, according to what the app informed the press.
According to WhatsApp, silenced calls will not ring your phone, but will appear in your call list. This feature automatically blocks spam, scams, and calls from unknown people to increase your protection, according to information from WhatsApp. As such, an option to block unwanted calls appears on the app's privacy screen.

On an iPhone, tap “Settings” (gear icon) on the app’s home screen. On Android, tap the three dots.
Then go to “Privacy”.
Press “Turn on” and activate the “Exclude strangers” function.
WhatsApp has also introduced “Privacy Checkup,” a feature that allows users to view and organize their personal information on the messaging app. The ‘Start Authentication’ option in Privacy Settings guides you through various levels of protection and privacy that make your messages, calls and personal information more secure,” the company said.
