This app can help users not miss movie moments when peeing in the cinema. Learn more!

With the advancement of technology, we can now count on different applications that help us with various tasks and make our routine easier. However, we can also count on slightly more unusual apps that can even tell us when it is the right time to go to the bathroom.

This app in question is Run Pee, which was created by Dan Gardner in the United States. It tells you when it's the right time to go to the bathroom during a movie in the cinema, how many breaks there can be, and gives you a quick summary of what happened. Longer films have more breaks, as is the case with Oppenheimer, which has six.

Run Pee

The application Run Pee has over 1,300 movies in its database, with more added weekly. The app provides a synopsis of each stop so that users know exactly what they missed while they were out. The main goal of the app is to show users the best times to run to pee during the movie.

According to the description, the built-in timer will alert you with a discreet vibration when a peetime is coming. With the discreet vibration, it is not possible to disturb people around the room.

In addition, the information is provided to users free of charge and without ads. It is also possible to find out about extra scenes and whether it is worth staying to watch them. If the user arrives late, the app will also tell them what they missed in the first three minutes of the film.

App

The app's creator, in an interview with The Guardian, said that the idea for the app came from a personal need, because at the end of the 201-minute film King Kong, in 2005, he was in agony because he needed to go to the bathroom. When he left, he thought about telling people in line to see the next show about the scene with giant insects in the middle of the film, as perfect for going to the bathroom. He didn't tell people this, but as a developer, he thought about making a website.

He bought the domain runpee.com, but how did he get a job on the team from Xbox, he left the idea aside for a while. In 2008, when he became a freelance developer, he decided to revisit the idea and created RunPee as a demonstration for his clients.

According to him, everyone loved the new feature, but no one used it. Initially, users had to access the website and print out a sheet when they were told to go to the bathroom and a summary of what happened during the minutes they were absent.

Today, the way it works is very different. Through the app, a list is shown of movies currently showing. After you select which one to watch and go to the peetime screen, it will tell you how many stops can be made. Longer movies have more.

When heading to the bathroom, users can get a quick summary of what they missed. The app also has alerts for sensitive scenes, such as animal cruelty, violence, sex and torture. The developer revealed that the stops are decided by him and his sister, which is why he calls RunPee family-friendly.
