An Instagram account allows you to share posts on social media, and it’s also a good idea to like and comment on other users’ posts. You can create an Instagram account from scratch using the mobile app or by visiting the service’s website on a PC. There are two main types of accounts on the Meta app: personal and business (commercial).
When you register on the app from scratch, you will create a personal account by default and set your username. The account type and username can be changed later. Below, you will learn how to create your Instagram account on your smartphone. In addition, we will answer the main questions related to registering on the platform.
How to create an Instagram account on your mobile phone
Download and open the app on your phone
The Instagram app is available for Android and iOS and you can download it from your phone's app store. Once downloaded, open Instagram to start signing up.
Click “Create new account” to register on Instagram
To create Instagram from scratch and avoid synchronization with others Meta profiles, go to the “Create new account” option.
Enter your name to create an account in the app
Your first and last name will be displayed on your Instagram profile, but you can change this information later. Note: This is not an Instagram username (@).
Create a password for your Instagram account
Set a strong password for your Instagram account using numbers, letters, and symbols. Keep your password safe, you will need it to log into the social network. By clicking “Next”, you decide whether you want to save your login information on your device or not.
Enter your date of birth
The app requires a date of birth to confirm the user's age. According to the social network's guidelines, you must be at least 13 years old to use Instagram.
Create a username (@) for Instagram
Your Instagram username must be no longer than 30 characters (including letters, numbers, periods, and underscores) and must not contain spaces.
Use mobile number or email to verify registration
You need to provide a valid email or mobile number to receive the verification code and log in to the app.
Accept Instagram Terms of Service
Before accepting the terms of use, it is important to read the information carefully to avoid having your account suspended for violating the social network's guidelines. After reading, if you agree to the terms, simply accept them to complete the registration and start using the application.
Do I have to pay to create an account?
Creating an account on the app is free. However, you can pay for a Meta Verified subscription to get a verified Instagram account. Verified accounts get a blue tick, better customer support and anti-fraud channels, and exclusive features for Reels and other types of posts.
How many accounts can I create?
Instagram accounts are tied to a user's identity authenticator, which can be an email address or mobile phone number. There is no limit to the number of accounts you can create using different email addresses or mobile numbers.
However, when you create an account with the same email or Facebook account, you automatically add the profile to the Meta Account Center, which supports up to 25 connected accounts for sharing experiences (logging in and posting). There is also a limit of 5 accounts that you can have at the same time on your phone to manage and quickly switch between profiles.
