Check out the best apps for iPhones that aren't part of Apple's new update. Don't miss out on iOS 17's features.

iOS 17 was released last Monday, the 18th, with some useful features, but not all Apple phones support it. Fortunately, there are apps that can reproduce some of the updates included in the new iPhone updates.  

For example, Marco Polo has a call recording feature similar to what FaceTime already has, while Life 360 tracks the journey of contacts from your phone to their destination. Below, check out our list of five alternative apps for those with devices that won't update to the new iOS.

Marco Polo    

As mentioned, Marco Polo could be an interesting alternative to FaceTime, the iPhone's native calling app. iOS 17 adds the ability to record video messages, allowing users to leave messages if they are unanswered during a call. There are third-party apps that perform the same actions as this one. iPhone app, such as group chats and emoji reactions, for free. The paid version of the app costs R$50 per month and offers other features such as call speed control, reminders, and bookmarks.   

Day One Journal 

The Day One Journal app is a great replacement for the iOS 17 Journal app. Similar to the new iPhone journal, it offers a variety of ways to record your important experiences.  

The app has automatic features that organize your photo memories, videos, and notes into complete albums, as well as calendar options, backup, and passcode and Face ID protection. You can add additional information to your photo and text entries, such as time of day, date, and weather. Similar to Journal, this app also features end-to-end encryption, a technology that ensures the security of the recorded data.   

Widgetsmith 

The Widgetsmith app is perfect for customizing your iPhone’s home screen and lock screen to look like the iOS 17 standby. Just like the new Watch smartwatches, you can place photo, calendar, and weather widgets on the screen. You can customize each shortcut and track the user’s daily activities, such as the time spent on individual shortcuts. The paid version of the app costs R$8.50 per month and offers a wide range of interactive widget styles with different themes and fonts.   

Shortcuts 

With the Shortcuts app built into your iPhone, you can automate the use of features, including through voice commands. After the arrival of the iOS 17, is a good option for devices that don't have this option. With this app, you'll have easy access to tools to improve your ability to concentrate, share your location, get home, play your favorite music playlist, and more. 

Life 360  

Life 360 is a replacement for iOS 17’s “Are you safe?” The app provides information about the exact location of the contact selected by the user until they reach the specified location. You can send invitations to family members to join your group and follow your itinerary. The app also allows you to receive a confirmation message when you arrive at your destination, similar to a feature in iOS 17.  

Life 360 also has private chats to share photos, messages, location history and make emergency calls to saved email addresses. It also contains the emergency contact. The paid version of the app costs R$12.90 and provides up to 30 days of history of the locations visited by the user's registered contacts, personalized reports and unlimited notifications.
